Education

Milwaukee School of Engineering BSMET (1994), major GPA 3.1.

Experience

Most of my teaching and mentoring experiences have been with adults in industry (working as an engineer for over 15 years). However, I also taught snowboarding to students of all ages (recently working for 3 years as a part time instructor). In addition, I am regularly involved with tutoring my nephews (basic home school curriculum). I want to tutor simply because I enjoy teaching and helping people. As for education, I have completed courses required for a mechanical engineering degree (including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, physics, chemistry, statics, dynamics, materials, machine design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, misc. labs, drafting/CAD, HVAC, microprocessors, computer programming, logic circuits, electric machinery, electric circuits, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, English, speech, technical composition, economics, psychology, world history, business management, etc.) I also acquired additional credits (beyond graduation requirements) in energy management. I began programming computers in 1983 (TRS/TI/Apple BASIC, LOGO, and QuickBASIC), am proficient with most standard PC applications (e.g., MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Powerpoint, MS-Outlook), and have limited experience with other applications including MS-Project Solidworks, AutoCAD, GIMP, and Joomla. Apart from my undergraduate coursework, I also graduated from MATC's Firefighter I program (1996), completed two intensive modern Hebrew ulpan programs in Israel (Haifa University and Ulpan Morasha, 2011-2012), and recently published my first book (2013). I have lived on three continents, been employed in a number of industries, have worked in a wide variety of capacities. Positions that I have held include the following: Paperboy, busboy, grocery bagger/stocker, frozen food manager, foundry worker, painter, engineering intern (refrigeration and energy management), medical mission fundraiser and volunteer, waiter, bartender, field service engineer (hydroelectric controls), process engineer (coal conversion utility), project engineer (nuclear power and HVAC), project manager (transmission utilities and engineering/consulting firms), applications engineering manager, product manager, author, and publisher.

Hobbies

When it comes to sports, I am partial to those where I am in motion. I enjoy snowboarding, wakeboarding, kiteboarding, rollerblading, hockey, motorcycling, and even dancing (mostly swing era/lindy). When not in motion, I enjoy cooking, photography, computers, reading, fishing, snorkeling/SCUBA, and disc golf. Most recently, I have been developing aquaponics packages, active in Toastmasters (Ozaukee club president 2013-2014), biking, and studying biblical Hebrew.
